Mineralization Comments

Oct 29, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - This occurrence is based on an anomalous copper assay reported by Cruickshank (1988) from a sample of quartz vein material. Mineralization at this location was reported to consist of chalcopyrite, pyrite and carbonate. Cruickshank (1988) provides no description of the host rock. However, Ayres (1972a) mapped quartz veins in the general vicinity of the occurrence in rocks that were mapped as metamorphosed mafic intrusives. The intrusions are relatively narrow northwest-striking bodies that are hosted within felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks. These veins are located approximately 600 m northeast of a major northwest-striking fault that was mapped by Ayres (1972a). Ayres (1972a) also measured a foliation oriented approximately 315/75 in this area. Assay values reported for this location by Cruickshank (1988) included 5970 ppm (0.6%) Cu, 418 ppb (0.42 g/t) Au and 3.8 ppm (3.8 g/t) Ag.
