Mineralization Comments

Oct 31, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - This occurrence is based on a reported copper assay of 2980 ppm in a surface grab sample collected by Geotest Corporation (Cruickshank 1988). The nature of this specific occurrence is not discussed; however, Cruickshank (1988) does note that disseminated to massive sulphide mineralization occurs within mafic metavolcanic rocks that are found in this area, which is located on a peninsula in Setting Net Lake and is located immediately to the west of the Oliver occurrences (MDI53C13SE00006). Cruickshank (1988) also reports the presence of quartz-pyrite veins on the northwest side of Setting Net Lake. Atkinson et al. (1990) report the nearby presence of numerous large trenches on narrow units of interflow sediments (argillite and chert mineralized with magnetite and pyrite) in coarse-grained mafic metavolcanic flows, and on gossan-stained zones containing disseminated pyrite in fractures that cross-cut the mafic metavolcanics. Foliation in the area of these trenches is reported to strike 075. Cruickshank noted that composite grab samples from the peninsula area assayed up to 1.6 ppm Ag, 981 ppm Cu and 393 ppm Zn. Atkinson et al. (1990) reported assays of up to 555 ppm Cu in samples collected from the trenches.
