Mineralization Comments

Nov 01, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - This occurrence is based on anomalous gold assays reported from Echo Bay Mines diamond drill hole BRE-90-07 (AFRI# 53C13SE0053). The diamond drill hole log indicates that a sequence consisting of mafic metavolcanics interbedded with chemical metasedimentary rocks (iron formation and chert horizons) was encountered. The gold mineralization occurs within an approximately 40 m wide unit logged as interbedded chert and mafic tuff. This unit contains approximately 2% pyrrhotite, which is reported to occur as fracture fillings in chert, stringers and patches in tuff, and as disseminations throughout. Up to 1% disseminated arsenoppyrite is also reported to occur in the chert horizons as medium to coarse euhedral grains. An assay of 1620 ppb Au was reported from a 1 m section located approximately 5 m below the top of this unit.
