Geology Comments

Oct 08, 2014 (J Suma-Momoh) - The McCollum Gold Occurrence appears to be associated with a fault zone which has been healed by a 12-inch quartz vein. Two sets of distinct fractures occur within the vein and are observed to control sulphide mineralization. These are: extension and shear fractures, probably caused by repeated movements of the fault creating tensional forces in the vein.

Lithology Comments

Oct 08, 2014 (A Wilson) - The quartz vein was 12 inches in width and strikes north, dipping 35°W. The quartz vein was exposed for a distance of 800 feet.

Mineralization Comments

Oct 08, 2014 (A Wilson) - Two grab samples collected from the vein in 1932 returned assays of $25.00 and $8.20 per ton in gold. Grab samples collected by Prestige Mines Ltd. assayed nil to 0.12 oz/t Au from grab samples. Assays from Prestige Mines Ltd DDH P-1 returned assays of 0.02 oz/t Au and 0.05 oz/t Ag over 2.5 ft and 0.01 oz/t Au and 0.07 oz/t Ag over 2 ft. Gold values from the other 3 holes returned u to 0.02 oz/t Au over 2 ft. Grab sample 5445 collected by Phoenix Matachewan Mines returned 3.91 g/t Au (check assay 3.12 g/t Au). Grab samples collected by the OGS returned 12,650 and 8336 ppb Au.

Oct 08, 2014 (J Suma-Momoh) - Gold mineralization is confined to large quartz veins mineralized with finely disseminated pyrite and molybdenite. Values are erratic and display a direct association with the amounts of molybdenite present. The showing returned assays from nil to 1.23 oz/t gold from grab samples of quartz vein material. In 2002, Phoenix Matachewan Mines Inc. collected two samples (sample # 54431 and # 54432) of quartz vein from the trench. The samples returned 0.58 g/t of gold and nil of gold, respectively.

Alteration Comments

Oct 08, 2014 (J Suma-Momoh) - The host rock of the quartz vein is highly altered quartz-syenite with many of the feldspars being altered to sericite and kaolinite. This type of alteration is evident of porphyry molybdenum-copper deposits.
