Mineralization Comments

Mar 13, 2008 (Mark Puumala) - Esso Minerals Canada diamond drill hole FO88-9 was reported by Hall (1988) to have encountered anomalous gold mineralization (833 ppb over 1.34 m) in intensely deformed, carbonatized and biotitized tremolite schist containing 3 mm quartz-carbonate veinlets mineralized with rare chalcopyrite. The host tremolite schist is part of an ultramafic intrusion that was intersected near the top of the drill hole. Tuffaceous felsic and intermediate metavolcanics (with intercalated greywacke horizons) were the dominant lithologies reported in the lower (northern) portions of the drill hole. Other lithologies noted in the drill hole included quartz-feldspar porphyry and gabbro intrusions (Hall 1988). This occurrence is located immediately south of a northwest-striking ultramafic epiclastic horizon (Hall 1987 and 1988) that hosts the nearby Fred's Zone occurrence (MDI53B08NE00009).
