03/17/2008 (M A Puumala) - This occurrence is based on anomalous gold assays of up to 5.54 g/t reported by Dumoulin (2001) from grab samples of narrow folded quartz veinlets hosted in biotite-garnet schist. The rocks of the area are dominated by massive mafic metavolcanic flows which host a significant north-striking iron formation horizon (Dumoulin 2001). The iron formation(s) mapped in the area by Dumoulin (2001) include oxide and silicate facies varieties, with the biotite-garnet schist horizon that hosts this occurrence being included among the latter.
