Mineralization Comments

03/18/2008 (M A Puumala) - This occurrence is described by Elliott and Corkery (1988; Assessment report 53B09NW0004) as a 1.22 m wide exposure of limonitic material with 1% pyrite that provided a grab sample assay of 690 ppb Au. It is hosted within the mafic metavolcanic rock-dominated North Rim unit of the McGruer assemblage (Thurston, Osmani and Stone 1991), near the eastern boundary of the North Caribou greenstone belt. The occurrence is coincident with a strong 1600 m long north-northwest-trending VLF-EM conductor that also coincides with a gossaned band of chert horizons, fine-grained argillaceous sediments and possible lean iron formation (mineralized with trace arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite over a width of 9 m) that is exposed at surface 35 m to the north-northwest (Elliott and Corkery 1988).
