03/19/2008 (M A Puumala) - Newman and Burk (1987) reported a grab sample assay of 655 ppb Au at this location from a quartz vein hosted in mafic metavolcanics (Assessment report 53B09NW0001). This same vein was sampled previously by Perry (1983), who reported that the host mafic metavolcanics were mineralized with trace pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite. The host mafic metavolcanic rocks are part of the South Rim unit of the McGruer assemblage (Thurston, Osmani and Stone 1991).
