03/19/2008 (M A Puumala) - Newman and Burk (1987) reported a grab sample assay of 780 ppb Au at this location from a gossanous horizon of chert-magnetite-grunerite banded iron formation. No sulphide mineralization was noted in the sample. The occurrence is located at the approximately 335-striking boundary between the mafic metavolcanic rock-dominated South Rim unit of the McGruer assemblage and the clastic metasedimentary rock-dominated Eyapamikama assemblage (Thurston, Osmani and Stone 1991).
