Jan 08, 2009 (A Wilson) - The rock is finely laminated, pink, grey and white biotite gneiss. Strong partings occur from 2-4 feet apart and there are well developed joints. The rock splits readily parallel to the grain and make excellent flagstones. It was used as a building stone for the Parry Sound Court House and Registry Office foundations. The quarry produces veneer, flagstone and dry-wall stone.
Jan 08, 2009 (A Wilson) - The deposit has been worked intermittently from 1900 to the present.
