May 06, 2009 (D Draper) - Upon discovery, Alcanex Zone 4 consisted of 2 roughly parallel trenches, about 36.5m (120ft ) apart, dug mainly in shallow overburden. These were thought to have originally been excavated in the 1940's or 1950's, and were designated TR 6 (west trench) and TR 5 (east trench). Bedrock was exposed in places along the bottom and sides of the trenches. Both trenches revealed highly sheared and weathered granitic rock and chlorite schist, that was presumed to represent altered andesite tuff. Gold concentrations appeared to be directly related to areas of shearing, especially where shearing is accompanied by pyrite in amounts of up to 10 percent. This condition is most commonly, but not exclusively, seen within and at the contact of bodies of granitic rock. (T-3594) The Shunsby Halcrow Uranium Prospect was described as follows: Two trenches, 125ft apart, were excavated about ½ mile [805m] east of the Ivanhoe River. The rocks exposed in the trenches are red fine grained syenite or aplite and fine greenstone, dark gray to green in colour. The two units are intimately mixed and rather sheared and altered with rusty weathered streaks and patches. (Mudford report, Halcrow Township Uranium Prospect, in Nov. 1955 Prospectus, AF T-2050) No location for the Shunsby trenches was illustrated in the original report. However, the Alcanex Zone 4 trenches match the timeframe, the description of the prospect and fit the given location, being approximately 800m east of the river.

May 06, 2009 (D Draper) - Shunsby Gold reported geiger counts of three to eight times background were found in the rusty weathered material and, in a narrow fracturing in the south end of the west trench [Alcanex TR 6], a geiger count of fifty times background was obtained. (Mudford report, Halcrow Township Uranium Prospect, in Nov. 1955 Prospectus, AF T-2050) Initial sampling of Zone 4 in 1991 returned gold values only up to 380ppb. However, 2 samples taken at this location (within TR 5) that year also assayed 4540 ppm copper in a grab sample and 3070 ppm Cu over 0.6 m within a porphyry mineralized with up to 20% disseminated pyrite. Another sample returned 5480 ppm Cu, from an indeterminate location described as ¼ mile SE of the (Zone 4) sample site. Zone 3 is located approximately 260m southeast of Zone 4. A 1991 sample from Zone 3 assayed 640 ppb Au. (T-3497) 1992 work: Zone 4 TR 5 assayed 0.89 g/T over 3.7 metres from a zone that appears to be at least 20 metres in width. Channel sampling from Zone 3 yielded an average value of 0.74 g/T Au over 2.6 metres. (T-3594) Union Gold drilling results: Hole UN06H1, Zone 4 - 976 ppb Au over 1.5m in a feldspar porphyry and 2960 ppb Au over 0.7m in a quartz-carbonate enriched zone in a sericitic porphyry. An unaltered porphyritic unit just above this latter zone returned an anomalous strontium value of >5000 ppm over 1.4m. Hole UN06H2, Zone 3 - best assay from the hole on this zone was 282 ppb Au and 1990 ppm Cu over 0.8m within a mafic volcanic unit. (T-5467)
