Lithology Comments

Dec 02, 2010 (A Wilson) - Three parallel bands of chromite mineralization extend beneath a gravity anomaly, dipping approximately 65° NW within the peridotite sill. A simplified lithological succession of the Ring of Fire intrusion from the base upwards comprises: talc-altered peridotite/dunite, serpentinized dunite/peridotite with chromite bands and layers, peridotite with lesser chromite, talc-tremolite schist and gabbro. The stratigraphy has been overturned and is now dipping roughly 60° towards 335° azimuth. There is geophysical evidence of folding to the southwest of the deposit. Intense faulting and associated alteration cuts through the southern part of the Blackbird 2 trending north-northeast and is likely sub-vertical. The fault appears to widen between the Blackbird 2 zone 2 (BB2-2) chromite and the southernmost massive chromite layer (BB2-4)

Mineralization Comments

Aug 01, 2014 (A Wilson) - Assay results from the discovery hole returned 31.07% Cr2O3 over 0.4 m (21.3% Cr, 16.90% Fe). On 16.4 m section of core averaged 26.29% Cr2O3 (17.99% Cr and 14.28%Fe). The chromite layers dip steeply at approximately 60° to the west, paralleling the contact between the peridotite sill and the granodiorite. The mineralization consists of both thick massive beds of chromitite up to several tens of m thick, and extensive intersections of intercalated chromitite and silicate rocks containing various amounts of chromite, commonly interbedded on scales of mm to m. NOT-11-1G201 which intersected 46.97m averaging 42.74% Cr2O3 at a 2.29:1 Cr to Fe ratio
