Exploration History

1934-1936: G. Pidgeon staked mining Loc. H.W.534; trenched & stripped a 1500 ft. zone on the claim. He also stripped a parallel zone 190 ft. north of the main zone. 1946: Robert Thomson, Resident Geologist, visited the property. He reported that erratic and low gold values did not warrant further work. 1980: A. Glatz staked claim K.533290. (Pidgeon-Hyndman Twp Occurrence) 1981-1983: A. Glatz conducted stripped on the property. 1983: Optioned to Teck Explorations Ltd. 1984: Claim was cancelled & restaked by G. Glatz (K.976631) (OFR5723, p.272-273, 1989)

Geology

Province: Superior

Geological Age: Precambrian

Geology Comments

Feb 02, 2010 (J Bongfelt) - Between the granitic batholith and the volcanic rocks occurs a lenticular zone of a dark-green, mostly medium-grained diorite, composed predominantly of plagioclase and hornblende and occasionally minor amounts of quartz and biotite. Transitional contacts to the volcanics and intrusive contacts to the granits suggest that this diorite could be the product of contact metamorphism during the emplacement of the granitic intrusives. This diorite is the host rock of the Cu/Ni showings on the Hyndman - as well as on the Tache claim group. (Kenora Assessment File 52F09SE O-1, Champion Bear Resources Ltd., Hyndman & Revell Twps).

Lithology Comments

Feb 02, 2010 (J Bongfelt) - Hyndman Claim Grp: Test pits have been sunk on quartz veins located in a dominantly northwest-trending shear zone hosted by fine-to medium-grained granodiorite. The granodiorite is typically gray on fresh surfaces and contains xenoliths of the mafic metavolcanic rocks. The shear zone, which hosts the quartz veins, is 1.5 m to 2.4 m wide and strikes 325° to 335°. The orientation of the shear zone changes to 020º at the southeast end of the zone. The granodiorite is strongly sheared and fissile at the northwest end of the zone. but is less sheared at the southeast end where it is only strongly foliated. (OFR5723, p.272-273, 1989). Hornblende-biotite quartz diorite. Main showing: A shear zone, 10 feet wide, stripped for 800 ft. in a direction N.30ºW. Dip vertical. In the shear zone, lit par lit sugary white quartz veins from a few inches to 10 ft. wide. Mineralization is largely confined to biotite schist (meta-quartz diorite) bands between the quartz veins and consists of disseminated pyrite. Second Showing: A shear zone with lit par lit quartz parallel to the above and exposed over a length of 400 feet. A pit 200 ft. east of the main showing also exposes quartz, and may be an extension of the second showing. (ON Dept. of Mines, 'Geology of the Dyment Area', Volume LXIX, Part 6, 1960, p.27).

Mineralization Comments

Feb 02, 2010 (J Bongfelt) - Hyndman Claim Grp: A grab sample taken by the author from the breccia zone at the southeast end of the occurrence assayed 2325 ppb gold and contained large clots of chalcopyrite and pyrite. A grab sample taken by the author from a quartz vein in a pit at the extreme northwest end of the occurrence assayed 620 ppb gold. A few other samples from the wall rocks and the quartz veins assayed trace amounts of gold. Grab samples taken by J. Satterly assayed between 0.01 and 0.08 ounce gold per ton. A grab sample taken by C.E. Blackburn from a quartz vein on the property assayed 0.52 ounce gold per ton. (OFR5723, p.272-273, 1989). Oct.28, 1981: Best assays came from red colored qtz; Denison got from 22 samples, a highest assay of 0.84 (1.20 oz./ton Au - Sample K81-67) - most were in the 0.02 to trace range. (Kenora Property Visit File, 52F09SE, Pidgeon Occurrence) Sept.26, 2002: Claim 1221297, trench one was 2.5m x 1.2m x 1.2m at orientation of 060?. It consisted of altered gabbro (sample AR02064), medium-grained, green, chlorite-actinolite altered with 2-3% Po and 2-3% Cyp as disseminations and fractures. Sample AR02064 = 1076 ppm Ni. (Kenora Property Visit File, 52F09SE, Hyndman Property, Johnson & Prouty). Five bulk samples taken from the trenches assayed 0.21% - 0.37% Cu and 0.27% 0.33% Ni. (Kenora Assessment File 52F09SE O-1, Champion Bear Resources Ltd., Hyndman & Revell Twps) Tache Claim Grp: Hole #2 cut a 10 foot intersection assaying 0.77% Cu and 0.64% Ni and 12 feet of 0.90% Cu and 0.66% Ni. A grab sample from the trench was assayed by INCO and returned >1.0% Cu, 0.33% Ni, 0.01 oz/t pt, 0.02 oz/t pd, and 0.015 oz/t Au.
