Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Vein 1 Quartz-Carbonate Host
Intermediate flow breccia 2 Dacite Brecciated Contains
Felsic lava flow-unsubdivided 3 Rhyolite Ignimbrite Near
Ultramafic lava flow-unsubdivided 4 Komatiite Spinifex Host

Lithology Comments

Aug 27, 2010 (A Wilson) - The occurrences consist of a narrow, quartz-carbonate vein within a dacitic agglomerate. The vein has a maximum width of 4 inches, strikes westerly, dips vertically and has been traced for 15 feet along strike. Fragments of graphitic tuff enclosing nodules of pyrrhotite were observed in the area of the vein. C. Pegg's drill hole intersected komatiitic rocks between 134 and 136 m. Assays from this section of core returned elevated Ni values.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 27, 2010 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected from a quartz vein by K. Darke in 1972 returned 0.64 oz/t Ag. A diamond drill hole completed by C. Pegg and located approximately 500 m to the east of the occurrence returned anomalous Zn and Ni values up to 749 ppm Zn over 1 m in tuffaceous felsic metavolcanic rocks. Assays up to 1830 ppm Ni over 1 m were returned from a komatiitic unit at depth. Anomalous nickel values also were returned from the felsic metavolcanic rocks above and below the komatiite.
