Access Description: Hurdman township is located approximately 120 kilometers north of the city of Timmins, in northeastern Ontario. It is accessible by travelling westward along Trans Canada Highway no. 11 from Smooth Rock Falls for a distance of 12 km then northward along a winter logging road for an additional 28 km. The first 20 km of the logging road would be useable year round by ATV but the last 8 km are strictly winter road, although skidder access should be possible in the summer. Alternate access options are: 1) canoe from the Poplar Rapids River which trends north across the township; or 2) All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) from a trail that trends north and east into the central part of the township; or 3) float plane from the Mattagami River which trends north along the east boundary of the township and extends across the northeast corner of the township. The Poplar Rapids River is accessible from a boat launch on the southwest shore of Indian Lake (local name) in Alexandra Township. The boat launch is accessible from a secondary gravel road about 12 km north of its intersection with Highway 11 which is 11.7 km west of Smooth Rock Falls.
