Point Location Description: field visit with GPS

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: Access is via the Premier Lake Road northbound from Sapawe for approximately 14 km, and then along the Reserve Bay Access Road for about 3.2 km to a camp site. From there, proceed to the back side of the campsite on foot and follow an old logging road to a beaver meadow, a distance of about 920 m. Cross at the beaver dam and follow an old tote road for about 100 m and then cross the beaver meadow to a low outcrop ridge that juts into the beaver meadow.

Exploration History

2008: Discovered by J. Bjorkman while staking.

Lithology Comments

Nov 27, 2015 (Therese Pettigrew) - The area is underlain by granitic rocks of the Marmion Lake batholith. Local shearing and brittle faulting crosscut the outcrops. In places, discrete rusty zones are apparent in otherwise undeformed granitic rocks. Some gneissic phases are present. Locally, small zones of pyrite and magnetite mineralization are contained within the altered granitic gneiss. Quartz carbonate veinlets as well as quartz flooding occur in places.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 27, 2015 (Therese Pettigrew) - Eight out of eleven samples returned gold values greater than 200 ppb. The showing is hosted by gneissic tonalite within the Marmion Lake Batholith. The rocks are pervasively pyritized (up to 5%) and altered by iron carbonate. There is no predominant quartz vein to follow. The showing has been initially observed and verified by assay results over a strike length of 190 m and a width of 30 m (AFRI 20000006911). During a property visit by the Ontario Geological Survey, a magnetite-pyrite zone was sampled and assayed 1.18 ounces per ton gold. Re-sampling of a different sample returned 1.42 ounces per ton gold. Further examination of polished sections indicates that the gold occurs within pyrite cubes. The magnetite-pyrite zone, while narrow, suggests that gold occurs within pyrite that is associated with magnetite within the Marmion Lake batholith (Scott et al., 2009).
