Access Description: Access to the property is gained by travelling west from Thunder Bay along Highway 11 - 17 to Shabaqua, and continuing westward along Highway 11 to a point 1.2 miles west of the village of Kashabowie. From there, Highway 802 S (Great Lakes Forest Products Road) leads southward. At mile 8.5, the Hermia Lake Forest Access Road leads westward to a serie of lumber roads which cross the group of claims. The area is also easily accessible through the Swamp Road which branches from Highway # 11 some 25 miles west of Highway # 802S



Exploration History

1871: The mining claims encompassing the Ardeen deposit were staked and surveyed. 1882: Property was purchased by Huronian Mining Co 1934: The McKellar vein was trenched at a number of locations. 1936: The mine was closed for the final time. 1937: The property was purchased at auction and sold to Kerry Gold Mine Ltd. 1957-1958: Noranda Exploration Company completed geophysics, mapping, and five DDH. 1968: Additional geological mapping and geophysics was conducted by Belore Mines. 1971-72: Belore Mines Ltd drilled 12 DDH and purchased the mine from Kerry Gold Mines. 1974: Dome Exploration Ltd optioned the property drilled 17 DDH totalling 1 697 m. 1986: Matt Berry Mines and BHM entered a joint venture. 1988: The property was sold to Geoventure Ltd. 1990: Landore Exploration optioned the property drilling 10 holes (1 243). 1993: The claims covering the Ardeen Mine and the showing were purchased by prospectors who carried out general reconnaissance prospecting. 1996: Pele Mountain Resources Inc optioned the property from a group of prospectors. 1996-1998: Pele Mountain Resources drilled 131 holes for a total of 12 943 m. 2003: Pele Mountaain Resources completed a 4-DDH program totalling 543 m. One hole, P-FS-03-01 was drill near the OGS sampled outctop. 2009: Coventry Resources optioned the property and completed a 70 DDH program (7 846 m) and relogged and sampled 62 historic DDH. A 442 sample geochemical survey was also conducted (till & humus). 2010: Coventry drilled 17 DDH totalling 1383 m. 2013: Chalice Gold signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Coventry’s interest in several assets, including the Ardeen project. 2016: Kesselrun Resources Ltd. purchases the property from Chalice Gold Mines Limited. Field work consisted of mapping, prospecting and outcrop stripping.
