Lithology Comments

Aug 12, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - The felsic rocks are predominantly rhyolites which can be further divided into a younging sequence from subaqueous quartz-phyric high-silica rhyolites upwards to progressively more subaerial quartz-feldspar phyric rhyolite tuffs. The basal high-silica rhyolites include thinly bedded ignimbrite units which include basal tuff-breccia to agglomeratic horizons with similar coarse fragmental textures to those seen in sulphide mineralization. The tops of these units are finely laminated and graded ash-tuffs.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 12, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - There are basically two styles of mineralization, the first and most extensive consisting of a breccia of sulphide clasts and clasts of altered quartz-phyric rhyolite in a finer grained matrix of essentially the same composition but with a greater proportion of sulphides. The second style of mineralization consists of relatively narrow layers of almost pure black-jack sphalerite with intersections intwo holes of 13.75% Zn over 0.8 metres and 20.38% Zn over 1.50 metres. Both styles of mineralization are high in their gold content considering the low copper contents with which gold is associated in most volcanic-hosted base metal deposits. The transported or breccia style of mineralization includes intersections of up to 2.61 g/t Au over 3.75 metres (with 3.95% Zn) whilst themassive sphalerite intersections as listed above contain 1.57 and 3.41 g/t Au, respectively.
