Exploration History

1993: Bill Richardson and Dan Arseneault located an amethyst filled cavity along a granite ledge. Richardson staked claim 1183530 over the showing. 1994: Richardson/Arseneault undertook a work program of manual stripping and washing. 1998: B. Richardson carried out blasting, stripping, and trenching. 2004: D. Arseneault transfers his 50% to B. Richardson. B. Richardson transfers 50% to Howard Pilsmaker. 2007: B. Richardson transfer final 50% to H. Pilsmaker. 2010: Quarry operated under the authority of MNR Aggregate Permit No. 20227, which allows for the extraction of up to 100 t/year from a quarry area of 1.6 ha.

Geology Comments

Nov 16, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - The amethyst occurrence was on the face of a granite ledge approximately 4'-5* high and 20' in length. The crystals ranged in size from 1/4" to 1.4" across and varied in colour from white to deep purple. The amethyst vein was traced to the northeast along a ravine for approximately 200 metres.
