Geology Comments

Dec 15, 2011 (A Lichtblau) - The Joyce River Gabbro lies within the southern margin of the Trout Lake Batholith. Poor exposures in the area of the trenches show the gabbro in contact with Magnetite-BIF hosted in gneiss.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 28, 2017 (A Lichtblau) - Sampling of Trench #1 and #2: Trench #1 (499101E / 5656572N): Sample #967 assayed 3035 ppm Cu. Trench #2 (499020E /5656681N): Sample #974 assayed 3549 ppm Cu, 458 ppm Ni, 43 ppb Au, 65 ppb Pt, 35 ppb Pd. Other assays are unreferenced as to which trench; Sample #28201 assayed 105,756 ppm Cu (10.58% Cu) and 66 ppb Au. Trench #3 (“Work Area 3-A”): Sample #28292 assayed 1167 ppm Co, 1207 ppm Cu, 800 ppm Ni; Sample #28303 assayed 2882 ppm Co, 8338 ppm Cu, 240 ppm Ni; Sample #28314 assayed 56 ppm Co, 109,094 ppm (10.9%) Cu, 16 ppm Ni.

Aug 28, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - The highest values were returned from the trenches which were intersected by the grid and are located at 0499084E/5656678N and 0499012E/5656677N, respectively. The mineralization at trenches 2 and 3 is hosted in a pyroxenite / hornblendite intrusion which is non-laterally extensive and has irregular contacts. The unit is not more than 5 meters wide at surface and appears to be hosted in a diorite that shows strong segregation of felsic and mafic phases which may represent migmitization of this host. Occasional sulphide-bearing quartz veining is present at this site. Significant sulphide mineralization including pyrite, pyrrhotite, and chalcopyrite was observed. Samples collecting during 2012 returned values of 1.11% Cu, 1.45% Cu, 7.06% Cu, and 7.66% Cu. Ni values were up to 200 ppm (AFRI 20000007974).
