Access Description: 170 KM NE of Red lake, 11 KM E of First Nations community of North Spirit Lake. All weather airport and winter road.
1950s: Spirit Lake Gold Mines Ltd: Gold completed exploration at Pontoon Bay in the south central portion of the Lake, 1954-1960: Crown Trust Ltd: explored for iron ore on the main iron formation on the current HTX Minerals property. 1950s: Prospectors Airways: gold conducted exploration at Prospair Point, west of the current HTX property on the east side of South Bay. 1969-70: Dickenson Mines explored the iron formations for gold. 1985-86: McBean Investments Ltd and Noranda: explored the Peridotite Bay and Pontoon Bay areas for VMS mineralization. 1996: Phelps Dodge completed and induced polarization and mag surveys followed-up by several diamond drill holes exploring for Cu-Au mineralization under central North Spirit Lake. 2007: Perry English staked the area for gold and VMS mineralization and optioned the property to Rubicon Minerals Corp. 2008-09: HTX Minerals completed mapping, sampling, geochemical analysis and petrographic examinations concentrating on the Ni-Cu-PGE potential of the ultramafic rocks. 2010:HTX sampling program was to evaluated the economic potential of the iron formation located on the SE of North Spirit Lake.
