Exploration History

1945: McBuck Red Lake Mining Limited completed mapping, drilling and trenching focused on finding extensions of the McFinley Mine mineralization. 1946: Marshall Red Lake Gold Mines completed a mag survey and drilled three holes. 1952: Bright Red Lake Gold Mines drilled 3 holes, without releasing the results. 1981: Placer Dome Canada Ltd. staked 16 claims based on results from a government airborne geophysical survey. They followed up with ground geophysics and diamond drilling which led to staking 37 additional claims. Little work was recorded on the ground until a 1986 diamond drill program. During the early 1990s, Placer completed ground magnetic, IP and EM surveys and additional diamond drilling. 1992: 7 DDH were drilled. In 2003, Placer Dome and Wolfden entered into a 50:50 joint venture agreement for further exploration and development of the property. 2005: 165 diamond drill holes have been drilled on the East Bay property, for a total of 59,546 m. Premier Gold Mines Ltd and Goldcorp joint venture. The East Bay South Zone was discovered in 04, when DDH #EB04-51, intersected 4 m long zone consisting of quartz-carbonate veining with pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and visible gold.

Mineralization Comments

Sep 01, 2022 (Q Unknown) - 1986 diamond drill program returned 3.1 g/t Au over 0.5 m. In 1992, a drill hole intersected 15.15 g/t Au over 0.61 m associated with an interesting geology and alteration package. Follow-up drilling returned anomalous results in 5 of the 6 drill holes. This work and subsequent work targeted Campbell Mine style mineralization at the contact of the mafic volcanic rocks and the East Bay serpentinite, particularly in the East Bay Deformation (Shear) Zone. DDH #EB04-51 intersected 4 m long zone consisting of quartz-carbonate veining with pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and visible gold. Assays returned 398 g/t Au over 0.3 m.
