Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Abitibi

Terrane: Wawa-Abitibi

Geological Age: Neoarchean

Geology Comments

Oct 17, 2012 (Nazha Sabiri) - The claim area is underlain by Neoarchean granodiorite. The quartz begins as a narrow stringer on the flank of the main vein and gradually becomes more massive. Other thins veinlets, veins and stockwork of quartz extending into the granitoid are present and tend to be parallel to the main quartz vein. The vein seems to be continued to the North East in claim 1211565 and to the South West in claims 1206317 and 1206318. Great White Minerals operated a quarry in these claims. Exploration shaft 1.5 m deep was found beside the quartz vein in claim 1211565.

Lithology Comments

Oct 17, 2012 (Nazha Sabiri) - Marginal to the vein, the granitoid exhibits strong shearing with a well developed schistosity. Fine- to- medium grained, massive to weakly foliated granodiorite and quartz manzonite. The quartz veins locally have a vuggy texture and 1% rusty sulphides are locally present. Chloritic and saussuritic thins smears material is also present on some fractures surfaces. Dessiminated iron staining is located along grain boundaries and fractures surfaces , these fractures and joints on the granodiorite are oriented 095/65 and 000/90. Prominent fractures are oriented 130o/90o and 150/90. Porphyritic to glomeroporphyritic mafic dikes are also present north of the quartz vein in the western part of the claim.
