Oct 22, 2012 (A Wilson) - The island is comprised of intermediate to felsic metavolcanic rocks intruded by diorite. Several narrow mafic dikes cross cut the rhyolite on the southern-most peninsula on the island.

Oct 22, 2012 (A Wilson) - Grab samples from the western end of Ferguson Island returned assays of 1.11% Cu and 0.16% Ni; and 0.44% Cu and 0.28% Ni. The best assay from the diamond drilling program assayed 0.26% Cu over 1.7 m. Most assays ranged from nil to less than 0.1% Cu.
