1949-1956: J. White prospected in northeast corner of Belfast Twp. A significant trench to the east of the lake near the Belfast-LaRoche township line contains a 1 cm vein of massive arsenopyrite with minor chalcopyrite. It is reported to assay 6.8 ounce per ton silver. From the rough sketch map in Thomson’s report, it appears to be about 562650E 5211825N. The vein strikes at 86 degrees and dips 60 degrees to the south. 1996-2004: The area was prospected by R. Comstock and A.W. Adair. Most of the work was mainly done south of the lake but along the western half. A sample collected at approximately 562290E 5211700N assayed 0.317 ounce per ton gold. Another sample, collected from either the same vein or to the west, assayed 0.22 ounce per ton gold.

Oct 22, 2012 (D Guidon) - The area is underlain by dark grey Nipissing gabbro. Geological mapping suggests that the area is underlain by Huronian sedimentary rocks but locations of outcrops suggest that Simony did not actually traverse over the area. The Nipissing gabbro intrudes the Huronian rocks of the Gowganda Formation. The main vein strikes about 110 degrees and dips 85 degrees to the south. It appears to be controlled by jointing in the gabbro. The blue vein at 562400E 5211565N strikes at 035 degrees and dips 50 degrees to the southeast. Although previous sampling did not return any gold assays, the vein was sampled on the visit. Numerous “blue veins” in the Kirkland Lake area are auriferous. The age of the this vein would be significantly younger than Kirkland Lake mineralization.

Oct 22, 2012 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected from a vein by A. Adair assayed 0.22 oz/t Au, 2940 ppm Cu and 4874 ppm Pb. A grab sample collected from the same vicinity by R. Comstock assayed 0.317 oz/t Au.
