Geology Comments

Jun 27, 2016 (P Bousquet) - The area is located on the south limb of the Swayze greenstone belt. It is made of Archean supracrustal rocks, dominantly of low-grade greenschist facies metamorphic rank, deformed by a ESE-trending syncline or synclinorium. The outer limb of this structure consist of tholeiitic basalt and gabbroic phases. The middle parts of the structure comprise infolded tholeiites with calc-alkalic metavolcanic rocks and a nucleus of clastic metasediments which are the youngest supracrustal rocks. Secondary lithologic types consist of iron formation and diabase dikes, and a late-tectonic alkalic rock penetrating the metasediments in east-central Osway Township: the Jerome Porphyry (Siragusa, 1993).

Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Ironstone-unsubdivided 1 Cherty Banded Host
Felsic lava flow-unsubdivided 2 Cherty Banded Host
Felsic Tuff-Breccia 3 Cherty Brecciated Host

Felsic Lapilli-Tuff 5 Lapilli Adjacent

Lithology Comments

Jun 27, 2016 (P Bousquet) - Holes 98-1 and 98-2 intersected a sequence of intermediate to felsic metavolcanics interbedded with graphitic argilite and cherty iron formation.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 27, 2016 (P Bousquet) - The highest intersection in hole 98-1 was in cherty rhyolite pyroclastics. The weighted average was 1.72 % Zn and 4958 ppm Pb over 17 ft. The highest assays returned were of 2.33% Zn and 6060 ppm Pb. For hole 98-2, the weighted average was 9742 ppm Zn and 3070 ppm Pb over 47ft. 7.06 %Zn and 2.34 %Pb were the highest assays, located in a lamprophyre dyke (?). More holes drilled in the vicinity in 1999 – 2000 returned assays to up to 3.43% Zn and 2.78% Pb (EAG-00-07), 6.14% Zn and 1.74% Pb (HMG99-6).
