Mar 10, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - Generally the Pass Lake Sandstone formation, part of the Sibley Group, is buff to pink quartz arenite (quartzose arenite), red dolomite and red sandstone (Assessment report 20000004255). The core drilling showed that the stone is very layered and fractured, inconsistent in colour, with some mudstone mixing with the sandstone, indicating poor quarrying potential for building stone (Assessment report 20000009083).

Notes: ASTM testing of buff (oyster white) Pass Lake Formation sandstone (mapped as quartz arenite on P.990) collected from this occurrence in 2011 indicated that it may be suitable for use as dimension stone (AFRO 2.53191). During 2013, a 4 tonne block of sandstone was extracted to allow for follow-up testing
