Exploration History

2000: Gold mineralization reported from a grab sample collected during OGS mapping of the Garden Lake Area (OFR6037).

Geology Comments

Oct 21, 2014 (Mark Puumala) - An assay of 0.69 oz/ton Au (duplicate sample returned 0.61 oz/ton Au) was reported by Hart (2000 OFR6037) from a grab sample collected at this location. The anomalous gold mineralization was associated with sheared and chloritized metavolcanic rocks containing 2 to 3% very fine-grained disseminated pyrite. The mineralized shear zone also contains a series of white quartz veins that are 2 to 3 cm wide and contain 3 to 5% fine- to very fine-grained disseminated pyrite and up to 25% iron carbonate. There are two sets of quartz veins. One set strikes 024 degrees and dips 45 degrees to the east-southeast, while the second set strikes 214 degrees, with a dip of 53 degrees toward the northwest. The northeast-trending veins are interpreted to parallel the western extension of the Garden Lake Deformation Zone, which is located immediately to the south of this occurrence (Hart 2000).
