May 29, 2015 (J Suma-Momoh) - A small amount of kimberlite whole rock was submitted by Alan Kon for U-Pb perovskite dating to Larry Heaman of the Earth Sciences Department at the University of Alberta. Result: The perovskite fraction had moderate Uranium content (41 ppm) and a 206Pb/238U age of 153.5 ± 3.0 Ma, interpreted to be the age of perovskite crystallization and kimberlite emplacement. The age of the Kon Kimberlite dyke would appear to be one of the mid to older kimberlites in the Timiskaming area (AFRI 2.55436).

May 29, 2015 (J Suma-Momoh) - On June 5, 2013, Garry Grabowski, a former District Geologist of Kirkland Lake, collected a 25-kg sample of the Kon Kimberlite. That same year, he submitted the sample to SGS Lakefield for microdiamond extraction. No diamonds were recovered from the sample but eclogitic garnet and chromite were noted in the sample residue.
