Nov 23, 2015 (Therese Pettigrew) - J. Bjorkman obtained values of 6.75 and 2.84 g/t Au from the “dump” associated with AL198. The Sunbeam lineament features anomalous gold over at least 3.9 km of strike length, including the Road Zone, the past-producing Sunbeam deposit, and the AL198 Zone. The AL198 Zone is exposed for 215 m, and is open in both directions. Of 21 samples collected, 14 were anomalous in gold, with a high of 16.2 g/t Au, and 7 had greater than 0.5 g/t Au (AFRO 2.44628). TerraX drilled holes SP11-09 to SP11-11, spaced 75 m apart targeting this quartz vein system. Each hole hit medium-grained tonalite to granodiorite with lesser gneissic tonalite, pegmatite and rare thin mafic dikes. Each hole also intersected a 6 to 10 m wide alteration zone consisting of moderate sericitization, moderate to intense hematization, weak silicification, weak chloritization, up to 0.5% pyrite, local fuchsite and rare pyrrhotite. Quartz-ankerite-pyrite veins up to 80 cm wide comprise approximately 5% of the alteration zone. The zone was consistently encountered at the 60 to 65 m mark in each hole. A clearly coherent alteration zone at AL198 produced variable amounts of gold in the three different holes (Table 7). Hole SP11-11 yielded 5.63 m @ 983 ppb Au, carried by a 0.8 m wide quartz vein that ran 6.12 g/t Au. The alteration zone in hole SP11-10 ran 10.25 m @ 303 ppb Au, and that in hole SP11-09 ran 6.16 m @ 70 ppb Au (AFRI 20000006911).
