Lithology Comments

Nov 23, 2015 (Therese Pettigrew) - Nahanni Mines 1982 drill program had the following results: RW82-10: 8.5 m @ 4.8 g/t Au, including 1.8 m @ 15.8 g/t Au. This intersection is in an 18 m long section containing a pyrite-bearing quartz-sericite zone with quartz veins (which host the gold) and several chlorite shears, surrounded by silicified tonalite. RW82-13: 2.04 m @ 0.29 g/t Au. The Sunbeam lineament features anomalous gold over at least 3.9 km of strike length, including the Road Zone, the past-producing Sunbeam deposit, and the AL198 Zone. Three historical shafts occur at the Road Zone, where TerraX's samples returned up to 2.6 g/t Au (AFRO 2.44628). Mapping in September 2009 revealed that the controlling shear structure in the immediate area of the best surface mineralization strikes approximately 240 degrees and dips 65 degrees northwest. This zone is also hosted by variably textured tonalite, with minor northwest-striking mafic dykes. TerraX drilled holes SP11-06 to SP11-08 spaced 50 m apart, targeting this quartz vein system and the mineralized zone encountered by Nahanni in their 1982 drill hole RW82-10. Each hole hit medium-grained tonalite and gneissic tonalite, cut by rare mafic dykes. Each hole also intersected a 10 to 14 m wide alteration zone consisting of moderate to intense sericitization, moderate hematization, moderate silicification, weak chloritization, up to 3% pyrite, rare pyrrhotite and local fuchsite. The alteration zone was consistently encountered at the 60 to 65 m mark in each hole. Quartz-ankerite-pyrite veins up to 10 cm wide comprise approximately 2% of the zone. The alteration zone in hole SP11-06 returned a very encouraging 13.90 m @ 1.11 g/t Au. Apart from the very local occurrence of pyrrhotite in hole SP11-06, the alteration zone was visually identical in all three holes. However, holes SP11-07 and SP11-08 contained only anomalous levels of gold (AFRI 20000006911).
