Lithology Comments

Apr 22, 2016 (A Wilson) - The Quaternary stratigraphy of hole 85-60 is uncomplicated. All sediments above 16.8 m were deposited in proglacial lakes Barlow and Ojibway. The gritty sand layer at 13.4 m was likely deposited by a subaqueous debris flow. Beneath the glaciolacustrine sediments is 2.7 m of subglacial till on bedrock. All Quaternary sediments encountered are part of a single glacial package. Ice associated with this package advanced toward 170º azimuth. A geochemical note, till sample 04 has an Au value of 430 ppb in the "H" fraction, reflecting the recovery of seven gold grains from this sample. During panning of the heavy mineral concentrate for sample 04, fifty grains of marcasite were collected.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 22, 2016 (A Wilson) - A geochemical note, till sample 04 has an Au value of 430 ppb in the "H" fraction, reflecting the recovery of seven gold grains from this sample. During panning of the heavy mineral concentrate for sample 04, fifty grains of marcasite were noted. A total of 7 gold grains were found in till sample 04. The size fraction ranged from 25 x 50 microns to two grains that were 150 x 150 microns in size. Fifty grains of marcasite also were collected from the sample.
