Exploration History

1997: Nuinsco drilled 136 reverse circulation drill holes totalling 3,814.4 m and discovered the 433 Zone, 500 m north of 17 Zone. Nuinsco drilled 1 DDH totalling 193.5 m. 1999: Nuinsco conducted core drilling targeting the 34 Zone and a magnetic anomaly in Tait Township. 2000: Nuinsco conducted an audio magneto-telluric geophysical survey. 2004: Nuinsco drilled 8 DDH totalling 1,549 m into the 34 Zone. 2005: Rainy River Resources completed the acquisition of a 100% interest in the project from Nuinsco in June. Rainy River relogged key sections of historical drill core, created a GIS database, conducted geological mapping, structural modelling and drilled more than 100 RC holes. In addition, 17 DDH were drilled, totalling 3,800 m. 2006: Rainy River drilled 121 DDH, totalling 55,219 m. Geotech Ltd was contracted to fly a Vtem airborne geophysical survey. Crone Geophysics & Exploration was contracted to conduct 3D borehole Pulse EM surveys. 2007: Rainy River drilled 179 DDH. JVX Ltd. was contracted to do an IP survey of 9 holes. Abitibi Geophysics was contracted to do ground gravity & EM surveys. 2008: Rainy River drilled 102 DDH totalling 53,733 m and 47 RC holes. Quantec Geophysics was contracted to do a Titan 24 survey. Fugro Airborne Surveys Corp. was contracted to do an airborne magnetic gradiometer survey. Preliminary pit slope design and waste management assessment was begun. A mineral resource estimate was completed by Caracle Creek International Consulting. 2009: Rainy River drilled 139 DDH totalling 69,753 m and 28 RC holes. SGS Canada was contracted to begin preliminary metallurgical testing. SRK prepared a mineral resource statement. 2010: Rainy River drilled 196 DDH totalling 88,615 m, discovering the Western Area mineralization approx. 800 m NW of the ODM/Beaver Pond mineralization. Environmental baseline studies were begun by Klohn Crippen Berger. SRK Consulting (Canada) Inc prepared a revised mineral resource statement. 2011: Rainy River drilled 157 DDH totalling 77,222 m. SRK updated the mineral resource statement. 2012-13: Rainy River drilled 225 DDH, totalling 77,969 m.

Mineralization Comments

Jul 18, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - The style of gold mineralization in the 433 Zone is comparable to that observed in the ODM/17 Zone, although some differences are apparent. These include an overall dominance of chlorite alteration (relative to dominant sericite in the ODM/17 Zone) of quartz-phyric host rocks, occurrences of chlorite-pyrite altered heterolithic conglomerates, and the occurrence of chalcopyrite and chlorite with high-grade quartz-pyrite-gold veinlets. Several subsidiary zones of gold mineralization are the HS and New Zones. The HS and New Zones are located north of and structurally beneath the ODM/17 Zone and slightly above the 433 Zone.

Nov 25, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - In RC 433, 808 grains of visible gold were found. The samples returned assays of up to 14.22 g/t Au (Assessment report 52C13SW0007). The 433, HS and New Zones form three of several anomalous gold occurrences in the footwall of the ODM/17 Zone, hosted by a combination of massive and fragmental felsic to intermediate rocks. The overall 433 Zone was also subdivided into three grade sub-domains based on the following divisions: 1) Greater than 0.9 gpt gold; 2) Between 0.5 and 0.9 gpt gold; and 3) Below 0.5 gpt gold. The 433 Zone therefore comprises of three geostatistically distinct geo-domains (Cole et al., 2011).
