Exploration History

1950 and 1960: Monpre Iron Mines Limited completed geological and geophysical surveys followed by diamond drilling (19 diamond drill holes totaling 3228 meters) and bulk metallurgical tests over the Matawin Iron Range. 1958 George Chilian excavated four trenches and drilled 10 diamond drill holes totaling 172 meters at the Chilian showing located near the western end of Sand Lake. 1985: Noranda conducted geologic mapping and a ground magnetic survey. 1988: Inco Gold carried out radiometric, VLF EM, and magnetic surveys. 1989: INCO completed ageological mapping program over the property in addition to prospecting. 1997 Freewest Resources conducted 11.5 km of VLF and magnetic ground geophysics over the property. 2004:Joe Hackl conducted prospecting, trenching and sampling of the property. 2010: Five diamond drill holes totaling 2046 meters were drilled on the Moose Calf property in eastern central Laurie township. Drill holes were designed to test geophysical anomalies. 2011: North American Palladium contracted Fugro Airborne Surveys to conduct 200 line km of MIDAS airborne magnetic geophysics over the Moose Calf property.

Geology Comments

Aug 15, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - "Keewatin" metavolcanic rocks, including komatiitic, tholeiitic, calc-alkalic, high potassium calc-alkalic and shoshonite affinities are the main constituents of the belt. Timiskaming-type sediments and associated high potassic calc-alkalic and shoshonitic volcanics unconformably overlie Keewatin lithologies.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 15, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - Foliated Timiskaming-type clastic metasedimentary rocks in the vicinity of the road display extensive iron carbonatization and are locally riddled with quartz-carbonate stockwork veins. There are also gold occurrences associated with quartz veins in the Matawin iron formation where the Matawin River crosses the iron formation. These veins returned values up to 18.4 g/t during prospecting activity. 2004 propsecting yielded 1.193 g/t from sample GC-22-21
