Exploration History

1896: In the Goldcreek area, gold was first reported by government geologist on the shores of Gold Creek. 1943-44: Gunflint Iron Mines Ltd. completed a surface work program of prospecting, channel sampling and 2,796 feet (852 m) of diamond drilling (12 holes) to test the Matawin iron formation, it was found that some gold mineralization was found in the general area of the I-Zone. 1956-57: Monpre Mining Company Ltd. explored a block of claims along the Matawin iron formation in central Duckworth and Laurie townships. Ground geophysics, geological mapping and 10,592 feet (3,228 m) of diamond drilling delineated 100 million tons of 30% Fe and an open pit mining pre-feasibility plan was prepared. The property went dormant until 1983 when the patented claims lapsed. 1987: INCO Gold completed a geological and magnetometer survey over a large portion of Duckworth and Laurie Townships identifying fifteen areas of anomalous gold mineralization and/or strong alteration. 1989: Inco drilled 10 DDH totalling 597.71 m. 2002: E. Fournier carried out prospecting and sampling. 20023: E. Fournier carried out prospecting, stripping, trenching, blasting, and sampling. 2006: 6531199 Canada Inc. optioned the property. 2007: Golden Share Mining Corporation and 6531199 Canada Inc. signed an agreement to reassign the Elwood Property to Golden Share. Golden Share conducted a property visit. 2008: Golden Share carried out prospecting and sampling. 2020: Portofino Resource Inc. acquired the property and carried out prospecting and sampling.

Geology Comments

Aug 23, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - Numerous stripped granodiorite dykes and their adjacent all rocks were examined to study the structural geology of the Gold Creek West property. brittle deformation effects ore present in the intrusive rocks. Features include faults, fractures, quartz veins filling early fractures. Little evidence of these fractures is present in most volcanic and sedimentary wallrocks. The volcanics exhibit a foliation averaging 100°/90° S. Foliation is strongest within a few metres of intrusions. Sediments and debris flows show only occasional brittle deformation features similar to those seen in the dykes. Otherwise they appear almost undeformed, with poorly developed foliation. Quartz veining was followed by faulting . The faults generally exhibit displacements of centimetres to metres. A conjugate set was developed with 328°/80°N dextral faults and 210/84 sinistral faults. The dextral\ faults ore- much more common. Lineations on this faults generally plunge at 10°-30° towards the south.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 23, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - Quartz veins contain 3-5% pyrite. Some veins contain f.g. galena in isolated pockets. At least 8 veins contain V·G. Most gold bearing veinlets are less than 3cm wide. One spectacular 1cm wide veinlet contained 2% gold. This zone is characterized by distinctive spotted alteration caused by the growth of 1-2% 5 mm chlorite blasts ·Qtz veins ranging from mm-scale to 70 cm. JF Scott Field Visit: 15U 711817/5382589 Inco Ah Zone @ 46.6 g/t Au grab sample; 15U 712012/5382522 Inco Af Zone @ 759.0 g/t Au (one small veinlet est. 2% Au);

Feb 01, 2023 (Therese Pettigrew) - At the AF Zone, hole 78441-0 returned 3.27 gpt Au over 0.82m, preceded by 0.685 ppm Au over 0.5 m. Hole 78442-0 returned 3.87 gpt Au over 0.35m, and 1.68 gpt Au over 0.4 m further downhole. Hole 78443-0 collared in gold-bearing rock, yielding 1.3 gpt Au over 0.7m. Further spikes downhole included 1.08 gpt Au over 0.5 m, 1.69 gpt Au over 0.5m, and 8.06 gpt Au over 0.5m (Assessment report 52B09SE0008). The AH Zone returned up to 1.52g/t Au from iron-stained sediments (Assessment report 52B09SE2020). Samples taken from the AF Zone in 2008 returned results of 1 gpt Au over 14 m, including 1.64 gpt Au over 8 m. The AH Zone returned up to 2.42 gpt Au over 2m, including 7.23 gpt Au over 1m (Assessment report 20000020176). Sampling at the AF Zone in 2020 returned up to 17.3 gpt Au (Assessment report 20000019257).
