Access Description: Access to the Gold Creek East block Is by a gravel road south from Shabaqua for 7.3 kilometres to Lower Falls on the Matawln River. West, from this point, Is a 8.0 kilometre long A TV trail that provides access to the southern portion of the block. The Gold Creek West block is accessible by a bush road from the Gold Creek Road, a major logging road. The Peewatal Lake Road, another logging road crosses the western end of the claim block.

Exploration History

1896: Gold was first reported In the area of Gold Creek by government geologists. 1928: Stripping, trenching and sampling was done by R. Welsh on what Is presently the Gold Creek West property. 1943-44: Gunflint Iron Mines prospected In the area and completed a 12 hole, 852 metre (2,796 foot) diamond drilling program to test the Iron formation and associated gold showings. 1956-57: Monpre Mining Company explored a block of claims which covered the Matawln Iron formation In central Duckworth and Laurie Townships. Geological and magnetometer surveys were completed and several trenches were excavated. Nineteen diamond drill holes totalling 3,228 metres (10,592 feet) were completed to test the Iron formation. 1969-73: M. Pendziwol did stripping, trenching and sampling on what Is now the Gold Creek West block. 1980: Trenching, stripping and sampling was done by S. Hyrmanak and N. Scollle In the West Gold Creek area. 1987: Noranda Exploration acquired the Pendziwol property. Geological and magnetometer surveys were completed. The option was terminated later In the year. 1988: lnco staked 31 claims (Gold Creek East) covering a portion of a belt of Timiskaming sediments. A grid was cut over the property followed by geology and magnetometer surveys . The Gold Creek West property was acquired by staking and optioning. This was followed by line cutting and a magnetometer survey. The Gold Creek East was prospected followed by mechanical stripping of a number of gold showings. Four diamond drill holes were completed. 1989: The Gold Creek West was geologically mapped and prospected. A number of showings located by prospecting were stripped and washed followed by detail mapping and sampling. The best showings were tested by 16 diamond drill holes. 1991: Five diamond drill holes totalling 368.82 metres were drilled. 1990: Seven diamond drill holes totaling 81411 metres were drilled 200 west of the Aa zone by Green Ice Corporation after a program of prospecting and IP surveying. 2004: Joe Hackl conducted prospecting, trenching and sampling of the property. 2011. Lac Des Iles Mines covered the showing in a 384 line-km magnetic survey.

Geology Comments

Sep 06, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - Mineraliztion is characterized by variably silicified, carbonatized, sericitized and pyritized sediments adjacent to quartz veinlets and/or veins which contain locally abundant iron carbonate and sulphides. Pyrite is ubiquitous, whereas galena and chalcopyrite are locally present. The majority of the areas of interest are spatially associated with the trace of a northeast - southwest sinistral fault which displaces stratigraphy by 200 to 300 metres.
