Exploration History

2008: R. Kwiatkowski discovered the showing and carried out sampling. Linear Metals Corp. optioned the property and completed prospecting, trenching and sampling. 2011: A series of samples were taken from historic trenches 5 and 6. The sampling program focused brushing out the trenches and verifying the anomalous gold mineralization indicated in channeling sampling. Double Crown Resources prospected west of Bateman Lake and completed a sediment sampling program in Bateman Lake. 2021: ALX optioned the property and conducted a VTEM survey, prospecting, and mapping. 2022: ALX drilled 6 DDH totalling 1155 m including one on the Kwiatkowski showing.

Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Wawa

Terrane: Wawa-Abitibi

Belt: Shebandowan

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Sep 21, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - The area is underlain by late Archean rocks of the Keewatin-type sequence of the Greenwater Assemblage consisting of subalkalic to alkali metavolcanics with interlayered metasediments. "Timiskaming-type" clastic sediments overlay the base assemblage in an irregular patchwork pattern due to the Thunder Lake Fault and related graben/horst offsets. The Archean age ultramafics show spinifex and pillow textures and are locally serpentinized.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Ultramafic lava flow-unsubdivided 1 Komatiitic Basalt Host
Mafic flow breccia 2
Claystone 2 graphitic argillite Adjacent

Lithology Comments

May 12, 2022 (Therese Pettigrew) - The southeastern half of Trench 1A is massive beds of argillite/graphitic argillite with local bedding striking at 60 degrees with a steep northerly dip. Nodular pyrite is found locally up to 3%). The remainder of the trench is komatitic basalt that has been exposed for 21 meters with a section of the ultramafic showing suturing and qtz-carbonate stringers (Assessment report 20000003608).

Mineralization Comments

May 12, 2022 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Kwiatkowski Showing had grab samples return up to 1.3% Ni, 0.2% Cu, 0.03% Co and 0.65 g/t Au+PGE. The most significant nickel values found in soils were on a north slope 300 meters north-northwest of Gold Lake with associated anomalous cobalt values. Sample BT047 ran 2408 ppm Ni and 332 ppm Co with adjoining sample BT048 to the north, 25 meters, assayed 3001 ppm Ni and 398 ppm Co. According to regional geology the rock type is an ultramafic intrusion. The ultramafics carry finely disseminated sulfides (tr-1% Py-Po±Cpy) (Assessment report 20000003608). DDH Elec22-05 returned 1018.87 ppm Ni over 1.91 m from 92.49 m and 1070 ppm Ni over 1.24 m from 113.5 m, both from metavolcanic breccias. In addition, Elec22-05 returned 0.27% Zn over 15.3 m from 44.7 m, and 2050 ppm Cu over 0.46 m from 60.0 m (ALX Resources press release July 20, 2022).
