Geology Comments

Oct 17, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - The mineral occurrence is an East West trending calcite vein well mineralized with galena, chalcopyrite, and minor sphalerite. Throughout the vein are amethyst vugs filled with clay. Some of the vugs are large enough to fit many men, and show beautiful amethyst specimens inside the vugs. Removing dirt and debris from the vugs exposing amethyst along with calcite, galena, chalcopyrite and sphalerite on the foot wall of the vein. The hanging wall is Sibley sedimentary rock and also has amethyst. This material comes off in flat plates.
