Exploration History

1936: The property was first staked by T. Christianson and E. Frederickson who performed surface work. 1938: The ground was optioned by J.E. Hammel who completed 19 drill holes for 610 m. 1952: The property had been re-staked by A. Larson. 1954: The property was held by J. Hurnous who completed 10 trenches and 44 drill holes totalling 1645.78 m. 1964: Unknown individuals drilled 2 DDH totalling 113.7 m. 1980: The property was optioned to Sherrit Gordon Mines Ltd. by E. Gay of Red Lake. Twenty-three trenches were cleaned out, and an extensive sampling program of these trenches was carried out. 1989: Tasu and Black Cliff mapped the geology of the Laird Lake area, conducted an IP survey, and drilled two holes, LL-89-9 & 11, beneath the showing. 2008-2009: Laird Lake Resources conducted prospecting and mechanical stripping programs. 2010: L.K. Herbert carried out prospecting to locate the historical showings on the property; 3 samples were taken from this point by Champlain Resources and completed induced polarization and magnetometer geophysical ground surveys. 2012-2015: Bounty Gold Corp prospected and mechanically stripped the showing. 2017: Premier Gold Mines Ltd. drilled 6 holes totalling 3660.1 m, including 1 hole totalling 591 m near this showing.

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Nov 02, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - Highly altered mafic volcanics with associated chert and iron formation horizons. The intensity of alteration and mineralization is similar to the GBZ.

Lithology Comments

Jul 14, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - To the north of the mafic metavolcanics sequences hosting gold mineralization at GBZ, EGBZ, HSZ and SPZ are ultramafic intrusives (peridotite) and flows (basaltic komatiite). These are largely concealed beneath the water of Laird Lake. However, where features of higher magnetic intensity extend from beneath the water of Laird Lake onto the surrounding shoreline, units of ultramafic affinity are typically observed at those locations (Assessment report 20000014000).

Mineralization Comments

Jul 14, 2020 (Andrew Tims) - Showing is exposed by stripping for ~30 to 40 m along strike, is approximately 8-10 m wide at the western end of the exposure, but appears to pinch down to 1 m at the eastern end. The highest grades sampled to date occur toward the eastern end of the exposure where the unit pinches down in width. At this location grab samples as high as 74.68 g/t have been obtained, and two 30 cm channel samples which form a continuous channel of 60 cm across the width of the unit at this location averaged 33.96 g/t.

Jul 14, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - Grab samples collected in 2013 returned assays ranging from 0.22 up to 74.68 g/t Au. Channel samples taken in 2013 returned 29.34 g/t Au over 30 cm and 38.57 g/t Au over 30 cm (Assessment report 20000014000).
