Exploration History

1956: New Jack Lake Mines Ltd (Rio Canadian Exploration) carried out a geological survey, Self Potential survey and ground EM survey (vertical loop). An anomaly was found and one drill hole was done. 1957: New Jack Lake Mines Ltd (Rio Canadian Exploration) conducted another ground geological survey and drilled 5 diamond drill holes SW of Iris Lake. 1984-1987: Lanaca Exploration Inc. did geological mapping, ground (VLF - EM) survey on their East Coldstream Property. Several diamond drill holes followed. 1990: Freeport McMoran resampled 1956 drill core and completed complete six DDHs. Independence Mining Company Inc. carried out soil sampling. 1991: J. Lukosius-Sanders mapped and prospected the area of the zone. 2005-2007: Everett Resources JV with Canadian Golden Dragon Resources Ltd. who contracted Geosig Inc to conduct an Induced Polarization survey over the Iris Zone as part of a larger survey on the Vanguard property. The JV completed an 18 ddh program (1258 m) of which 3 DDH intersected the Iris Zone over a 1.125 km strike length (Van07-003, 004 & 005). 2009: Foundation Resources acquired the area of the Iris Zone, completing prospecting and sampling along the mineralized trend. 2010: Foundation Resources carried out mapping and sampling. 2011: Foundation completed mapping dividing the Iris Zone into East and West sections. A 55 ddh program was completed for 12,173 m of which 20 holes (IL-11-01 through IL-11-20) totalling 3,849 metres were drilled into the Iris Zone.

Geology Comments

Feb 24, 2017 (Andrew Tims) - The Iris Zone is hosted in a broad southwest striking and steeply dipping deformation zone. This zone is comprised of variably schistose to sheared alternating felsic to mafic metavolcanics commonly displaying silica, chlorite, sericite, albite, iron-carbonate, magnetite, potassium and hematite alteration. From an economic point of view, the most important rocks in this area are the sheared mafic metavolcanics with strong silica, chlorite, hematite and carbonate alteration with trace to up to 5% disseminated and stringer pyrite (+ chalcopyrite).

Mineralization Comments

Oct 09, 2018 (Andrew Tims) - Anomalous to highly anomalous gold values, delineating a broad mineralized zone (~25-60 m wide and over 600 m long). Van07-003: 1.27 Au and 4.9 Ag gpt over 5 m. Van07-004: 0.54 Au and 1.6 Ag gpt over 8.2 m. Van07-005: 0.74 gpt Au and 0.5 gpt Ag over 11.3 m. All three drill holes are located in the western part of the property and tested a sub parallel swarm of IP anomalies over a length of 1200 m. The gold values are in altered pyritic, mafic volcanic rocks with quartz and carbonate veining and are associated with anomalous copper and silver and increased pyrite, up to 20% disseminated pyrite in a visual estimate. Surface sampling in 2009 near drill hole VAN07-005 returned 15.8 g/t Au.
