Exploration History

1960: Noranda prospectors J. Burke and A. Bouchie discovered the showing. Noranda conducted line cutting, geological mapping, trenching and sampling, ground magnetic and EM geophysical surveys, and drilled 22 DDH totaling 881 m, as well as 9 shallow pack sack drillholes for at least 77 m. 1961: Noranda Exploration Company Ltd. drilled 4 DDH totaling 180 m. 1974: Noranda drilled 3 DDH totaling 223 m on the western extension of the Beggs Prospect. Mid-1980s: Nuinsco drilled 7 DDH totaling 848 m. 2010: Coventry Resources Ltd. drilled 10 DDH for 1412 m.

Dec 15, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - The original Noranda Beggs Lake #1 Zone discovered in 1960 is a gabbro-hosted gold occurrence (AFRI 52F05SE0021).

Mineralization Comments

Dec 15, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Beggs showing consisted of a quartz-carbonate vein extending over 600 feet east-west trike length west of Beggs Lake (AFRI 52F05SE0077). Results from the 1960 Noranda drill program included 17.48 gpt Au over 2.3 m from 2.4 m in DDH PS-60-1; 8.79 gpt Au over 2.5 m from 5.6 m in DDH PS-60-2; 3.3 gpt Au over 3.1 m from 25.4 m in DDH PS-60-9. DDH 61-34 had 3.09 g/t Au over 1.5 m from 37.4 m. The best result from the Nuinsco drill program was 2.0 gpt Au over 6.3 m from 42.1 m (Lycopodium, 2013).
