Lithology Comments

Sep 25, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - Diorite/gabbro intrusives occur within the volcanic package and generally form sill-like bodies 200-300 m wide, and traceable for 1-2 km along strike. Disseminated sulphide mineralization carrying anomalous gold concentrations have been found in some of the diorites.

Mineralization Comments

Sep 25, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - Sample 65763 is from a mafic volcanic breccia and assayed 1.06 gpt Au. Highly pyritized fragments of mafic volcanics (50% by volume) lie within a matrix of quartz and carbonate. Pyrite is usually limited to the mafic fragments and generally close to the contacts with quartz-carbonate material (OP97-073, RGP Thunder Bay office assessment files). A sample collected by Norex staff from an altered diorite-gabbro at the north end of the bridge over the Wawiag River assayed 2.57 gpt Au (AFRI 52B07NW0009). In the 6 trenches excavated by Norex in 1991, chlorite-hematite-silica alteration in moderately sheared diorite was encountered with assays of up to 1.16 gpt Au from Trench 3 (AFRI 52B07NW0004).
