Access Description: The property can be accessed by travelling south on the Catlonite gravel road for 11 kilometres south of Longlac. The property is accessible year round from the Catlonite road, which crosses the property from north to south. The remainder of the Property can be easily accessed by four wheel drive vehicles via numerous logging/bush roads that branch off of the paved highway. Those areas of the property that are not serviced by roads can be access by ATV, on foot or by boat in the summer and by snowmobile during the winter months.

Exploration and Mining History

Tims carried out prospecting and soil sampling. 2009: A. Tims conducted two small mag and VLF-EM surveys, prospecting, and sampling. 2010: A. Tims carried out prospecting and sampling. 2016: Greenstone Gold Mines carried out line cutting, soil sampling, prospecting, mapping, sampling, and an IP survey.

Lithology Comments

03/28/2019 (T Pettigrew) - The Viper Property resides in a location of the Beardmore-Geraldton Greenstone Belt where the Central Metavolcanic Unit and the Southern Metasedimentary Unit are strong folded together. This folding pattern closely resembles the same refolding that is found in the Hardrock Property area. The central meta-volcanic unit is comprised of massive and pillowed basalts and andesite with mid-ocean ridge basalt geochemical affinity, interlayered with thin sedimentary and tuffaceous beds. The central metavolcanic unit differs from the southern metavolcanic unit by thicker deposits of pyroclastic rocks and an abundance of large amygdules in the flow rocks, suggesting shallow-water or subaerial volcanism. The majority of the flow rocks are andesites and dacites of calc-alkaline affinity with trace and rare-earth element patterns suggesting deposition in an emergent volcanic arc above a subduction zone. There are also numerous young diabase dykes running roughly north-south crosscutting all other rocks. The southern metasedimentary unit is comprised of clastic and chemical sedimentary rocks. Polymictic conglomerate occurs as thin horizons (<5 m) within a thick sequence of thinly to thickly bedded feldspathic sandstone interlayered with thinly bedded siltstone and argillite. Banded iron formation, a minor component of the unit, occurs as fine magnetite-rich laminae and jasper-hematite beds within 3-30 m thick horizons interlayered with thinly bedded green argillite, siltstone and sandstone. In the middle of the folded southern metasedimentary unit there is a large felsic porphyry plug. The felsic porphyry body is folded and is only slightly younger than the surrounding clastic metasediments (Assessment report 20000014177).

Mineralization

Deposit Mineralization and Alteration
Rank Mineral Name Class Economic Mineral Type Alteration Mineral Type Alteration Ranking Alteration Intensity Habit Description
1 pyrite economic ore
2 pyrrhotite economic ore
3 arsenopyrite economic ore

Mineralization Comments

03/28/2019 (T Pettigrew) - A mineralized unit intersected by SK97-04, 09 & 10 consists of bands of approximately 7% arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite and pyrite hosted by a strongly biotite altered schist with 5-10% silicified quartz-carbonate veinlets. Narrow cataclastic faults locally with associated quartz-carbonate veining were observed at the upper and lower contacts of the biotite schist. The mineralized zone is associated with an increase in magnetic susceptibility due to magnetite alteration and the presence of increased pyrrhotite (Assessment file 20000014177). In DDH SK97-04, gold assays averaged 1.98 g/t over a 7.3 m interval within the mineralized interval. DDH SK97-09 assayed up to 1.24 g/t Au from 6.5-8.0 m. DDH SK97-10 assayed up to 2.45 g/t Au within a 6.5 m interval averaging 1.87 g/t Au within the mineralized tuff (Assessment file 42E09NW0011).
