Mineralization Comments

07/26/2019 (T Pettigrew) - Two abandoned trenches mark this undocumented occurrence located approximately 200 m south of Strawberry Creek. Steeply dipping, moderately schistose and well-bedded volcaniclastic metasedimentary rocks of the Wawa Subprovince underlie this location, close to an east-trending fault. Narrow quartz veins mineralized with arsenopyrite, pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite are exposed in the trenches. The veins trend roughly east, subparallel to the local schistosity. One of the veins in the western trench is displaced by a series of southeast-trending, en echelon shears displaying 3 to 5 cm of right-lateral offset. Samples from this vein returned assay values of up to 33 ppb Au. The vein exposed in the eastern trench is relatively undeformed and is bordered by a rusty horizon 1 cm wide containing up to 3% arsenopyrite, 1% pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite and galena. Samples from this trench yielded values of 1211 ppb Au, 3719 ppb Au (0.115 ounces per ton) and 19 200 ppb Au (0.562 ounces per ton). The maximum values for base metals were 27 ppm Cu, 136 ppm Zn and 242 ppm Pb (Brown, 1995).
