Mineralization Comments

Jul 26, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - Located within one of the narrow belts of predominantly mafic metavolcanic rocks within the Quetico Subprovince, in central Ware Township, this property is underlain by a locally pegmatitic gabbro body intruding medium- to fine-grained flows. A northeast-trending zone of shearing and fracturing within the gabbro is cut by an east-northeast-trending, 1.5 m wide, pre- to syndeformational quartz vein, a later subparallel feldspar porphyry dike and a series of narrow lamprophyre dikes with various orientations. Up to 5% finely disseminated pyrite and up to 2% chalcopyrite, galena and pyrrhotite occurs within the sheared gabbro, within chloritic inclusions and fragments of gabbro in the quartz vein, and infilling fine fractures throughout the vein. Alteration in the vicinity of the sheared zone is patchy and consists of moderate chloritization and silicification, and pervasive carbonatization. Sampling by OGS staff returned values up to 263 ppb Au (Brown, 1995). Samples of the vein taken by Inco yielded values of 5.60 and 3.05 ppm Au (Assessment record 52A11SW0051).
