02/13/2020 (T Pettigrew) - Slightly anomalous gold (1.88 g over 2.7m) was encountered by Santa Maria Mines in a zone of coarse felsic fragmental rocks containing 10-50% pyrite over 4.5 to 6.1 m. In 1985, Santana Petroleum Corp. traced the CC zone over a 1200 m strike length by IP, surface trenching, and diamond drilling. They intersected a siliceous pyritic unit at the contact between pervasively carbonatized agglomerate-lapilli tuffs and finer overlying crystal and ash tuffs. The siliceous unit, averaging approximately 1.5 m in width returned assay values up to 860 ppb Au and 511 ppm Zn. The sulphide mineralization consists of blebs and stringers of pyrite and lesser amounts of pyrrhotite, ranging from 10% py/1.5m to 25% py/6.2m. Massive pyrite is absent, however narrow intervals of semi-massive pyrite (50-60%) are present. Gold assays from the drill program reached 1.88 g/t Au over 2.7 m (Assessment report 52G15NW9300).
