Lithology Comments

03/24/2020 (T Pettigrew) - The bedrock on these claims consist of flat-lying sedimentary rocks belonging to the Upper Gunflint Formation, of the Animikie Series. Alternating layers of chert and iron carbonate rocks are exposed in outcrops across the claim area. To the immediate westem edge of the claims, these rocks are overlain by Rove Formation shales. To the southem and eastem limits of these claims are several diabase Sills. The north half of the claims is covered by a cutover with no rock exposed. A fault runs east-west across the middle of the claims. Several smaller faults have formed a small hillside where quartz and agate have formed in a network of thin veins and in horizontal openings between layers of the bedrock (Assessment report 20000002172).

Mineralization Comments

03/24/2020 (T Pettigrew) - Stripping of location C revealed an agate vein about 5” thick, lying horizontally below a thin later of ultramafics, chert and gravel. Small vugs with agate stalactites were found here with fine smokey quartz in vugs. Thin veins of white quartz, amethyst, and purple fluorite are located in ultramafic intrusives at this location as well (Assessment report 52A06NE2001).
