Jul 17, 2020 (P Bousquet) - (excerpt from T-6721) The bedrock of the Carscallen property consists mainly of felsic plutonic rocks of the Carlton Lake Pluton in the western part of the property, intruding into mafic metavolcanic rocks of the Deloro assemblage. The rock types observed at the surface and in core include: granite/granodiorite, mafic volcanic rocks, iron formation (sulphide and oxide facies), quartz-feldspar porphyry intrusions/dikes and locally lamprophyre dikes.
Rock Type | Rank | Composition | Texture | Relationship | Granodiorite | 1 | Adjacent |
---|---|---|---|---|
Quartz Porphyry | 2 | Quartz | Near | |
Vein | 3 | Quartz | Host | |
Lamprophyre-Unsubdivided | 4 | Quartz | Near |
Jul 17, 2020 (P Bousquet) - The ZamZam zone is described as quartz-pyrite stringers contained in shears in a granodiorite intrusive.

Jul 17, 2020 (P Bousquet) - The ZamZam zone was discovered in 2007. It was exposed over 55 m strike length. At the time, the best grab sample returned an assay of 843.7 g/t Au. (Excerpt from T-6721) Gold mineralization occurs in pyrite-quartz veins/stringers which contain 10 to 50% pyrite. The veins are typically several cm to almost half a meter thick, grading generally between 1 g/t Au to 100 g/t Au, and mostly occur within corridors several m wide. Three main mineralized corridors are recognized: ZamZam/Shenkman, Jowsey and 1010. Quartz-feldspar porphyry dikes appear to be spatially related to these mineralized corridors. At depth, near the granite/mafic volcanic rock contact, gold mineralization occurs in the granite within pyrite-rich mafic xenoliths. Several holes were drilled by Melkior Resources Inc in 2013 panned to intersect the ZamZam zone at a depth of 80 to 115 meters. Results included 0.65 metre at 144 g/t gold (CAR-86-2013), 1.50 metres at 34.06 g/t gold (CAR-88-2013) over 1.50 metres, 0.50 metre at 25.70 g/t gold (CAR-91- 2013), 0.60 metre at 140.50 g/t gold (CAR-94-2013), 0.60 metre at 23.70 g/t gold (CAR98-2013) and 1.35 metres at 7.36 g/t gold (CAR-99-2013).
