Mineral Deposit Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
intermediate to felsic metavolcanics 1 tuffs contain pumaceous fragments near
mudstone 2 argillite adjacent
epiclastic 3 greywacke and conglomerate adjacent
sandstone 4 quartzite adjacent
felsic intrusive 5 feldspar porphyry and granitoids adjacent
gabbro 6 near
lamprophyre 7 near
vein 8 quartz host

Lithology Comments

12/23/1996 (K Kettles) - The occurrence is underlain by a steeply dipping, bedded sequence of metavolcanic tuffs. The strike of the bedding is approximately 050 deg. The metatuffs are felsic to intermediate in composition and contain pumaceous fragments. Units containing quartz and/or feldspar phenocrysts are intercalated with the tuffaceous rocks. Later dikes of gabbro, lamprophyre and granitoid plutonic material intrude the tuffs.

Mineralization

Deposit Mineralization and Alteration
Rank Mineral Name Class Economic Mineral Type Alteration Mineral Type Alteration Ranking Alteration Intensity Habit Description
1 pyrite economic ore
2 pyrrhotite economic ore
3 gold economic ore
1 quartz economic gangue
chlorite alteration chloritic 1 unknown disseminated

Mineralization Comments

12/23/1996 (K Kettles) - Gold mineralization is associated with quartz veins up to 2 mm in width in feldspar porphyry. Seven samples taken by OGS geologist during property visit. Best assay 0.08 oz/ton (2.744 g/t) (OFR 5558) MDI1 DATA: GRADE 1987: GRAB SAMPLES FROM 2 NEARBY QV, UP TO 2705 PPB AU.

07/30/2020 (T Pettigrew) - Grab samples collected in 1988 returned up to 4.018 ppm Au from a quartz vein at the contact between felsic to intermediate metavolcanics and sediments in Zone C and up to 1.815 ppm Au from a quartz vein in Zone B (Assessment report 20000006235).

Alteration Comments

12/23/1996 (K Kettles) - Chlorite alteration has been observed in the vicinity of quartz veins.
