Mineralization Comments

12/18/2020 (T Pettigrew) - The J.J. Perry occurrence is hosted by a limestone (marble) unit striking as· and dipping 86° north in contact with mafic to felsic metavolcanics and gabbro. The limestone unit is recrystallized and up to 2 m wide. Chalcopyrite occurs as massive patches and fracture fillings within the limestone and proximal to the limestone in gabbro and metavolcanics. Assay values up to 3.9% Cu and 576 ppb Zn were encountered by G. Clark and A. Eveleigh. The Galena Vein trench occurs northwest of the J.J. Perry occurrence. Mineralization at the Galena Vein trench is comprised of massive to disseminated pyrite, sphalerite and galena associated with a cherty exhalative unit hosted in metavolcanics. The mineralized zone is intensely folded, approximately 20 m wide, strikes 55 degrees and dips vertically. Plunge of minor folds is vertical to 40W. Pillowed mafic metavolcanics are in contact to the north and suggest younging to the south. Pillow selvages display silicification, carbonatization and pyrite mineralization. Felsic metavolcanics, represented as tuffs, lapilli tuffs and felsic breccia, occur hosting the chert unit in the Galena Vein trench and to the west of the occurrence. Assays up to 5.8% Zn and 0.86% Cu from grab samples were realized by the property owners. Old trenches and pits known as the Kindle occurrence are located 60 m west of the Galena Vein trench. The heavily overgrown location was forgotten from 1929 to 1993 when it was rediscovered. Banded massive sulphides including chalcopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, magnetite and sphalerite occur associated with felsic lapilli tuff and breccia rocks and a limestone unit. Assay values from grab samples submitted by property owners range up to 6.0% Cu (Mason and White, 1994). Sulphide mineralization is exposed in four areas: the J.J. Perry trench, the Kindle trench, Galena Vein trench and the Galena Vein Extension. Massive and stringer pyrite and pyrrhotite, containing variable amounts of chalcopyrite and lesser sphalerite, is best developed along contacts between mafic and felsic metavolcanic rocks. The J.J. Perry trench area is elongate in a northwesterly direction and measuring 50 x 15 m and exposes an oxidized massive sulphide zone best developed in interflow metasediments and mafic metavolcanic rocks marginal to their contact with felsic metavolcanic rocks which are flow banded in part. Mineralization consists of fine-grained, massive pyrrhotite-pyrite with streaks of chalcopyrite and some magnetite and sphalerite over observed widths of between 1.2 and 3 m and a strike length of 25 m. The sulphide zone trends west-northwest and is vertical to steeply south-dipping. In the central and western trench area, an 18 x 2 m lens of medium- to coarse-grained, recrystallized limestone within the mafic metavolcanics features garnet-pyroxene skarn pods containing disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite. Samples taken in 2001 returned up to 2.11% Cu, 125 ppb Au, 33.6 ppm Ag, 1185 ppm Co, and 102 ppm Zn. The Galena Vein trench area, about 100 m northwest of the J.J. Perry trench, includes a 45 x 20 m stripped area and exposes sulphide mineralization hosted by felsic metavolcanic rocks and intercalated cherty horizons immediately south of a relatively nonmineralized mafic metavolcanic unit. Two lenses of massive, coarse- to fine grained pyrite and lesser chalcopyrite, measuring 20 x 5-8 m and elongate in northeast and north-northwest directions, are enveloped by stringer and disseminated sulphides. A third, smaller massive sulphide lens occurs along the northern contact between felsic and mafic units which is generally sharp. The orientation of the massive sulphide lenses reflect the complex, isoclinal folding evident throughout this exposed area; numerous minor folds have northeast axes and several stages of deformation are evident (Assessment report 42L07NW2003).

12/18/2020 (Q Unknown) - The Kindle trench area consists of two north-south trenches 10 m apart. These expose massive pyrrhotite-pyrite-chalcopyrite mineralization over widths of between 0.5 and 1.5 m along an east-west contact between a felsic unit on the north and mafic metavolcanic rocks on the south. A thin, crystalline limestone unit in the contact area is partially converted to skarn. Style of mineralization here is identical to that seen at the J.J. Perry trench 250 m northeast (Assessment report 42L07NW2003).
